Devlog 7


It was a very productive fortnight and a lot of stuff has been done. First of all, I made a complete blocking for the second location and currently it looks just massive. Also, for this purpose I made new environmental objects to interact with. Therefore the next step for the location is creating visuals and filling this space with visual content. 

Moreover, throughout tests of the new location some old bugs have been discovered and eliminated. 

  • Changed character collision
  • Added better fall curve and corresponding camera movement
  • Fixed some old problematic places
  • Added new sounds
  • Minor changes in character controller

The next huge step is creation of new AI. Previous one worked fine with flying enemies, but new ones require a more complex approach. When it seems kind of simple, in fact it’s not. The most complex part is uniting all the scripts into one system since there is no complete and comfortable correlation of internal systems. On the other hand, when one AI will be done, all others will follow shortly, since attacks and unique features already exist. 

All in all, I can see the future of development, but it is heavily obscured by the sheer amount of tasks that need to be done and it is problematic to keep track of everything. Even now I can see that previous complex systems work as intended and could be easily tweaked, but because of different other distracting tasks it is so hard to keep polishing something specific. Despite all of it, I believe in the near future I will be able to show something more specific and the game will become more united and polished.
